Job Description

A growing CPA firm in the Anne Arundel County, MD area seeks a qualified Senior Tax Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals
  • Conduct tax research and provide strategic guidance on tax-related issues and compliance
  • Support tax planning initiatives to optimize tax obligations and ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, including analysis of deferred tax assets and liabilities
  • Respond to tax notices, audits, and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed
  • Assist with implementation of new tax laws and accounting standards
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization
  • Mentor and review work of junior tax staff and ensure adherence to best practices and accuracy
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and operations teams on tax matters related to business initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA preferred)
  • 3-6 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
  • In-depth knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations and partnerships
  • Strong experience with tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, UltraTax, OneSource, or similar) and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
